Sign language courses to be offered permanently

October 12, 2018

The ASL program began in Spring 2018 as a pilot program, which was set to end in July 2019. According to Yale Course Demand Statistics, 59 students expressed interest in taking ASL 110 this fall at the peak of shopping period, compared to 45 students in the spring 2018.

Due in large part to the popularity of the courses, Yale has announced that the ASL program will be made part of its permanent curriculum. In the Spring the Linguistics Department will conduct a national search to hire a lector in ASL for a three-year appointment.
