During Spring break (March 17-20), Professor Zanuttini visited Sewanee, The University of the South, as a part of a developing relationship between that school and Yale’s Grammatical Diversity Project. There, she gave a public lecture entitled “Language Science and Language Prejudice” that was attended by students, faculty and members of the community. She also led two classes, with the title “The study of Language as a window on the mind: The importance of dialects”, within a seminar conducted by Professors Linda Mayes and Karen Yu. Phoebe Gaston, a senior our department, joined her in leading the second of the two classes, showing great poise and confidence delivering some of the lecture.
