Yale linguists at CogSci2024, “Dynamics of Cognition”

Seven current members of the linguistics department attended the CogSci2024, the 46^th Annual Meeting of the Cognitive Science Society, held in Rotterdam, Netherlands from July 24^th-July 27^th. As a recipient of the Glushko Dissertation Award, Tom McCoy presented a talk based on his dissertation “Implicit compositional structure in the vector representations of artificial neural networks”; Teresa Borneo and Maria Piñango presented a poster, “Linear Word Order Modulates the Cost of Metonymy Comprehension: Dynamics of Conceptual Composition”; and, Michael Stern, Maria Piñango, and Jason Shaw presented a talk, “Neural dynamic architecture of language linking the sensory-motor to the conceptual domain via lexical items” in the symposium “How does the sensory-motor brain integrate and give rise to cognition and learning?”.
