Welcome Elitzur Bar-Asher Siegal

August 8, 2022

We welcome Elitzur Bar-Asher Siegal, who will spend the upcoming academic year at Yale. He will offer two courses in our Linguistics Department: “Bridges between Formal Semantics and Historical Linguistics” in the Fall, and “Causative Constructions” in the Spring semester.

Elitzur received his PhD from Harvard in 2009, submitting a dissertation proposing a neo-Saussurean theory of argument structure.  In 2010 he joined the faculty of the Department of Hebrew Language at Hebrew University, where he is Associate Professor and Fellow at the Center for Language, Logic and Cognition. He has worked extensively on theoretical and diachronic linguistics and Judaic studies. His publications address topics ranging over causation, reciprocals, non-core datives, and negation, drawing on evidence from ancient, medieval, and modern Hebrew and Aramaic and other languages.
