Happy International Week of Deaf People

September 20, 2022

Happy International Week of Deaf People!

The ASL Program and ASL at Yale student organization collaborated on a video to announce the week: #IWDP2022

IWDP is observed on the last full week of September and is a time when we promote awareness and celebrate our culture. The theme of this year’s IWDP is Building Inclusive Communities.

Today’s community building activity: SIGNING TABLES at Commons! The ASL at Yale Student organization will be hosting signing tables regularly throughout the year, starting with today 12:00-1:30PM. Come and join us for lunch if you’d like to practice your signs!

The IWDP theme of the day is Sign Languages in Education. As all of the ASL lectors are Deaf and come from a background in Deaf Education, promoting deaf children’s access to sign languages (and ending language deprivation) is important to each of us. If you would like to know more on this topic, ask one of us and we would love to share!

Our upcoming events:

Please let us know if you would like to attend the history exhibit, so we can coordinate an optimal viewing schedule.
