Ryan Bennett to present talk and poster at FAMLi III in Mexico City
The talk is titled “The prosody of Kaqchikel person marking,” and the poster is titled “A phonetic study of Uspanteko accent.” Both are joint work with Robert Henderson.
Claire Bowern to host 'grammar boot camp' for undergraduate students in Summer 2015
Four students will travel to Yale to work with archival materials and write grammars of Australian Aboriginal languages. Accepting applications until January 15, 2015.
Erich Round and Michael Proctor receive DECRA Fellowships
Erich and Michael, recent PhD graduates, have been awarded three-year research fellowships in Australia.
Hannah Haynie to deliver homecoming linguistics lecture at Dartmouth College
The lecture, titled “Sound Symbolism in Australian Languages: Phonetic Iconicity Re-examined,” will be given at the Dartmouth College Linguistics Department on Thursday, October 16th.
Shira Calamaro and Gaja Jarosz publish article in Cognitive Science
The paper, titled “Learning General Phonological Rules From Distributional Information: A Computational Model,” appears in the journal Cognitive Science.
Ryan Bennett receives NSF grant to study Irish Gaelic palatalization
The award is part of a collaborative NSF grant with linguists at UC Santa Cruz.
