Irene Yi presented “Sometimes I’ll start a sentence in Mandarin 然后用中文完成”: Towards Sociolinguistically-Aware Computational Models of Codeswitching Using Classification and Regression Trees (CART)” at NWAV49. This work explored using computational models and methods (such as CART models and Random Forest) to represent Mandarin-English codeswitching behavior, with particular focus on the sociolinguistic factors that influence codeswitching in Mandarin-English bilingual speakers.
