Claire Bowern and Alessio

Faculty member Claire Bowern and former postbac (and current McGill PhD student) Alessio Tosolini recently published a paper in the Proceedings of the Linguistic Society of America. The paper provides an account of how to create text to speech systems and the ethical implications of doing so from archival data, where the results are more similar to vocoding or deep faking than simply voice generation.
