Jason Shaw and Qian Zhang publish in Phoentica

Former visiting scholar Qian Zhang and faculty member Jason Shaw published a paper in Phonetica. The paper, titled “Articulatory adaptations to the effect of nasality on vowel formants in Xinfeng Tieshikou Hakka”, shows that the lingual articulation of nasal vowels varies to adjust for effects of velum lowering on vowel formants.
