Yale Linguistics was well-represented at the 62nd Annual Meeting of the Chicago Linguistics Society (CLS 62) held on April 17-19, 2026. Speakers included current PhD students Richard Luo, Yitong Luo, Ka Fai Yip, and undergraduate linguistics major David Garsten. Please see below for the presentation titles: 

• Richard Luo - Choice functions and alternatives: two classes of Georgian wh-indefinites (joint work with Natasha Thalluri) 

• Yitong Luo - Animacy Hierarchy Effect on ergative marking in Malimasa Naxi 

• David Garsten - Appl’s got gravity: head movement, have-raising, and the evolution of (have) got 

• Ka Fai Yip - Syntax below words: verbal suffixation in Chinese (joint work with Tommy Tzi-Ming Lee)
