Steve Anderson delivers keynote in China

Professor Stephen Anderson is currently in China, where this weekend he will present a keynote address at the International Conference on Language and Cognition (ICLC), held at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China in Chengdu. His talk, “What Does Birdsong Suggest about the Content of the Human Language Faculty?”, considers the relative roles of innate factors and functional pressures in shaping the evolutionary history of oscine birds’ song systems and explores how such investigation can help us understand what is responsible for constraining human linguistic variation.
