Tomorrow, 51 students from local middle and high schools will arrive at Yale to compete in the Open Round of the 2017 North American Computational Linguistics Open competition.
Our honorees include Catherine Browman, Fidelia Fielding, Mary Haas (PhD ’35), Osvaldo Jaeggli (BA ’76), Edward Sapir, and Kay Williamson (PhD ’64).
As previously reported, the Yale linguistics department sent two teams to the 5th Annual New Haven Reads Spelling Bee, held last night at the Yale School of Management.
The event, a fundraiser for New Haven Reads, is 7-9pm (doors open at 6) on Friday, October 21, at the Yale School of Management.
These students will solve linguistics puzzles, hoping to earn a place on the US team at the International Linguistics Olympiad.
