Jim Wood and Matt Tyler publish in WCCFL proceedings

A paper by Assistant Professor Jim Wood and graduate student Matt Tyler has been published in the Proceedings of the 34th West Coast Conference on Formal Linguistics. The paper, entitled The have yet to Construction: A Microcomparative Account, describes variations in the use of the expression have yet to across dialects of American English. The findings are based on large-scale surveys with participants from all regions of the United States, and the work reflects ongoing research on linguistic microvariation in North America by the Yale Grammatical Diversity Project.

The West Coast Conference on Formal Linguistics is an annual conference held in the western United States and Canada covering all subfields of linguistics. The 34th conference was held at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, and the paper was presented on April 30, 2016. The conference proceedings were published in March of this year.
