Jason Shaw and Jim Wood join the Yale Linguistics Faculty

June 3, 2016
We are thrilled to announce that Jason Shaw and Jim Wood will be joining the faculty of the Yale Linguistics department as Assistant Professors starting in Fall 2016.

Jason Shaw’s research, which combines language description with formal computational models and experimental methods, aims to understand how phonological form structures natural variation in speech and how this variation is interpreted by listeners. He comes to us after completing a PhD at NYU in 2010, and six years as a (Senior) Lecturer at the University of Western Sydney.

Jim Wood’s work explores the connections between morphology, syntax, and argument structure. He has done extensive work on Icelandic, and increasingly on the dialects of North American English. He has been at Yale as a Lecturer and Postdoctoral Associate, working in the Yale Grammatical Diversity Project, since finishing his PhD at NYU in 2012.
