Claire Bowern elected vice president of the Endangered Language Fund

Congratulations to Associate Professor Claire Bowern, who has been elected vice president of the Endangered Language Fund. The vote took place at the organization’s annual meeting earlier this month, which was held in conjunction with the LSA Annual Meeting in Portland, OR.

Founded in 1996 by Adjunct Professor Doug Whalen (Yale ʼ78 (MA), ʼ79 (MPhil), ʼ82 (PhD)), the ELF is a non-profit organization that supports efforts to preserve and document the world’s endangered languages through its Language Legacies and Native Voices initiatives. According to its website, the ELF has supported projects in over 30 countries, from South Dakota to Siberia.
